"Counseling Is Good Preventative Medicine"

ABOUT JUDY LOUDIN
Since 1973, I have been in professional practice in the mental health / addictions field as a therapist
and an administrator. I opened the first private practice in this area specializing in women's issues in 1983, known as WomanCare Inc. Over a 16-year period, I employed up to ten therapists, including myself, and briefly had a second location in Niles, Michigan. Along with a cutting edge focus on women's issues, we provided counseling for men, couples, children and families. In 1999, I closed the group practice, retained the corporate name, and began a solo practice in downtown Kalamazoo. I share office space in a lovely historic house (Remington House) with four other independent therapists.
Along with my knowledge and skills in addiction and adjustment issues, I have received specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for easing the effects of trauma. This approach is most effective in working with single incident traumatic experiences, but can also be used with more deeply imbedded, long-lasting trauma.
I am a Certified Imago Therapist, which allows me to work effectively with couples, either married or partnered. I especially like to counsel with couples prior to their making a permanent commitment. It is so important to know both you and your partner's needs, wants and patterns, and to establish a "contract" concerning roles and expectations. "Over the years, I have come to understand the wholeness & healing
potential within each of us. My belief in the integration of
mind, body and spirit is reflected in my practice."
